Fabulous February tracks

This piece probably will follow suit with last month’s wherein there won’t be any long write ups. This is already almost a week later than I would’ve liked it to be, but I wanted to share some newish tracks with y’all all the same.

So without further ado, here are some of the new tracks I rocked this month.

“Ghost Shaped People” — Lamb of God

Starting this list with LoG makes me realize how these lists seem to feature the same group of bands and artists month after month. I suppose there has to be a backbone that keeps things moving! And LoG is like the last groove metal band I think that hasn’t disappointed me politically. Oh, there’s also Machine Head! Or at least Robb Flynn.

“How Far Can It Go? (Feat. Trisha Yearwood)” — Haily Whitters

Hailey Whitters is back the second month in a row with a song featuring Trisha Yearwood. The music video is channeling some serious throwback aesthetics that seem to be unstuck in any one time.

“Brittle” — Icon for Hire

I love this song coming from Ariel Bloomer: “I’m not brittle // Well, maybe just a little.” We may be hard, but we may also be liable to shatter. This song does give me mixed feelings around the part where it goes: “You’re alive, you’re not a diagnosis // Keep breathing, don’t lose focus // I’m not a diagnosis.” I have mixed mental illness feelings about it!! But overall I enjoy the song and Icon for Hire’s electronic rock sound.

“Quiet as a Rat” — Amigo The Devil

Amigo the Devil is quickly becoming one of the backbone’s that ties together these lists month-to-month. Favorite line: “The pictures all showed her terrified and a loner // while everyone cried what a great friend she was.”

“Guilt Free Heart” — Tatiana DeMaria

“Let Go” — Potty Mouth

What was I listening to in Februaries past?

Well, I mentioned Machine Head and Robb Flynn at the top of this piece and I absolutely have to highlight their track “Circle the Drain” from February 2020.

That does it for February!! While you’re rocking these great tunes, please head over to the National Center for Transgender Equality 2021 State Action Center to track anti-trans legislation and make sure that none gets passed into law in your state!
